HUDSON SQUARE STORYTELLING SPHERES

Illustration concepts and hand-painted spheres for a public art project supported by the Hudson Square Business Improvement District.

I was commissioned with my collaborator, Jensine Eckwall, by project lead and data visualization designer, Jenny Goldstick, to design and implement images of archetypes and lessons from over 100 stories gathered in Manhattan’s Hudson Square neighborhood.

Displayed below are my spheres depicting the most common character roles — the Peacemaker, Adventurer, Visionary, Thinker, Collaborator, Witness, Creator, and Influencer. In total, Jensine and I painted 19 final images on 15x15” spheres for this yearlong public installation, on view in garden beds across Hudson Square.
